I agree that there isn't enough research into the phenominon nor it's effects on boys and society as a whole, but there is some. SInce most of it points towards controversial results, it has all been buried. One can find it, mostly on sites that campaign for changes in the legal system to reduce or eliminate Age of Consent laws, but you have to look hard and fish through a bunch of crap. Much of the research has fallen into questionable practices due to lack of funding (very small study groups, biased study practices, poor interpretation of data, even intentional molestation of hundreds of boys and then following them through life!) but there are a few truly scientific, ethically carried out studies to be found. And their results are very controversial.
One of the biggest things discovered is that there is a differnce between boys and girls in the way they view childhood sexual experiences: (This was one of the well-done studies, which was actually trying to prove that children were deeply troubled and hurt by their various abuses as children. It was a study of more than 2,000 college students.) Girls overwhelmingly reported later in life that their childhood sexual experiences left them scarred and confused and was highly correlated to emotional and relationship stress and failure, as well as poor self-image and low-college performance. Boys, on the other hand, were polar opposite, having nearly exactly the opposite overwhelming numbers, reporting that they viewed their childhood sexual encounters to have been fun, positive effects on their lives, and had no correlation to any negative life-traits and instead had a slight correlation to positive life-traits. This is only one example of a study that was well conducted, and buried because of it's contorversial conclusions. Conclusions that their funders had intended to see the exact opposite of (in regards to the boys). We need more research and need to spend more time examining the causes and effects of pedophelia and how we too can be integrated into society as productive members without shame. In Christ, ~CSL PS SInce I can't find a link in my bookmarks to the above mentioned research, I will see if I can find it, as it's results should not be taken simply on my say-so. |
