Not that I'm condoning such threat, but once you have a child you'll do anything in your power to protect them. And to be honest the people on this board are a threat to the people on FreakSafari.

There are people that I feel that way about - I will take a bullet for them without thinking twice.

However, I've been on this planet long enough to know that if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, you better do a blood test before calling it a duck. "Calling a spade a spade" is wrong often enough and does enough harm when you guess wrong that it's not the right thing to do.

The right thing to do when it comes to kids is
1) assume everyone represents at least a small danger
2) if you think a person is a higher than average risk, investigate
3) be prepared to modify the assessed risk up or down as you get new information

As I said elsewhere, some recovering alcoholics make the best bartenders. Find a man like this and your bar will be a success and your clientèle DWI arrest rate will be near zero. Likewise, some pedophiles make the best babysitters: they will love your children (no sex) and protect your children to the death, something almost nobody but a blood relative, police officer, or someone in the "caring professions" like a teacher or child-care worker will do. Find a man or woman like this and you've found the Golden Ticket. The trick is not to write someone off when you find out they are a pedophile - investigate, investigate, investigate.
