Wow, thank you very much for your response. I reaaaaallllyyy want to believe you, and I reaaaalllyy want to find a way to help you, but I'm having a hard time believing that you were born a pedophile. Maybe it's my naivete, but in all the sociology and psychology classes we are taught that something happens that causes such feelings. Do you believe there is a gene that you were born with?
A study by Gaffney et al., (1984) appears to suggest that this physiological factor is genetic. This study compared relevant information about the prevalence of the various kinds of paraphilias in first degree relatives of 33 pedophiles (defined according to DSM - III) hospitalized at Johns Hopkins for therapy, and of 33 patients hospitalized for depression. There was a greater prevalence of paraphilics in the families of the pedophilic probands and all were characterized by the probands as pedophiles and as males. - Freund, "In search of an etiological model of pedophilia." There's a decent amount of evidence which at the very least suggests a highly specific genetic inheritence... so it's possible. People have hated pedophilia for a couple hundred years now. Ever since we as a society learned what happens when a child's innocence is torn from them have we taken the proper steps to ensure our youth in protected. Ever since it's been hated. It hasn't just started. I... beg to differ. It's about 30 years old. The age of consent in delaware up through much of the 70s was seven years of age; the chance that your grandmother married young to a much older man is remarkably high. Child porn was completely legal through the 60s and much of the 70s. A number of noted activists in the feminist movement openly campaigned for the liberation of youth and the paederotic, in that order... ...of course - thankfully, but unfortunately for us - the feminist movement quite rightfully brought up a critique of domestic and intrafamilial violence directed against women, children and youth, usually by the male head-of-household. That was when these guys showed up : http://www.protect.org/california/caVascoGiaretto.html ...and that was when the "satanic panic" provided the smokescreen that drew attention firmly *away* from the home. http://www.careact.org/faq.html ...they've been milking it for all it was worth, and... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:h.r.03582: ...they're still getting away with it. That's our only opposition. We're pretty much just the smokescreen, and yup, it's pretty damn recent. Take away that motivation, and the hate all crumbles - I'm sure someone would still hate, but there wouldn't be anything behind it to back it. It's... some pretty new-school developments, really. |
