An aquaintance of mine (I call him an aquaintance because he definitely wasn't a friend) was taking some kind of drug to reduce his sex drive. I met him thru church. I found out he had been convicted of various sexual crimes. His main interest seemed to be little girls, although he confided in me later to have "been" with little boys too. I thought maybe I could help him, since I was a bler, so I came out to him in the hope we could work on our attractions in a God centered way together. So we ended up confiding in each other about things we could not share with anyone else. But what I found out was very disturbing. I later realized he wasn't an actual pedophile, he just preyed on the vulnerable. He would have a woman if he could, but most women regarded him as sleazy. (He was) So he forced himself on kids, and got caught a few times. I am more sympathetic than most when it comes to sexual problems, but I wouldn't trust him around any child, or any adult woman for that matter. But I digress. My point is that as part of his probation, he was required to take drugs to reduce his sexual drive. I have no idea what they were called. This was probably over 20 years ago, so I don't know if the castration drug was even available then. In any case, all the drugs did was make it very difficult for him to have an erection. It did nothing to curb his sexual appetite. Once I found out that he didn't really want to control his sexual urges, just wanted someone who he could fanasize with and share lurid stories, I distanced myself from him. I have no idea what became of him. I don't think I want to know.
