Well, after looking up the formal info on the word 'pedophilie' on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophile), I'll give you that I was wrong on its *definition*, due to its origination. In light of a careful reading of this article, and remembering past discussions, I think I should remind people of the word 'pederasty' meaning the erotic (exclusively lustful) love of children, whereas most of us are pedophiles in that we are 'friends' of boys with sexual attraction a secondary part of that type of love.
But I must still draw you to the fact that in formal debate of philosophy, science, and other such intelectual fields, the definition of words is (or at least tries to be) held stable and defined without permitting popular usage to alter it. The popular culture abuses and changes word's meanings on a daily basis and it makes clear comunication very very difficult. Your listeners (the uneducated ones) will misinterpret what you say so as to reinforce their own views and thus largescale change is slowed or even impossible. In fact even small scale change, within only a single person becomes very difficult. This is, in many ways, a new phenomenon. Not entirely new, but new in the fact that the uneducated, informal, and unclear are permitted to dictate our society's behaviors, where in the past it was the educated who made the decisions and shaped peoples' opinions. ~CSL |
