I'm wondering when one of them will nominate the kidnapper for man of the year for "rescuing" this poor boy and taking him in.

Ya, some BLers definitely see this situation differently than others. Now, I don't have all the facts so I can't make a really strong opinion, but from what I know I think that this guy was very wrong in what he did! Kidnapping is, well ... wrong! I feel sorry for those kids and thier families!

Oh, and what I was actually trying to get at with my distinctions between what this man did and love was made very clear in my last post, so here it is. I'm wasn't really looking at word definitions and what the media and society will label this guy. I was more looking at, is that guy really the same type of guy that we are? This was based off of my points about love (from the litteral translation of pedophile).

I think that there is a distinction between that person and myself, and I assume most of the people on this board. I go by my definition of pedophile ("lover of children" - more specifically, boys). And as I stated back in our discussions earlier, because of the screwed up way that society is today a sexual relationship with a boy (in my opinion) will eventually cause harm is some way or another (normally pretty bad, especially if others find out). Knowing this, an adult who loves a boy would want to save the boy from this hurt and would refrain - thus I stay away from anything sexual with boys! Now, adding kidnapping into the mix clearly makes the hurt in the boys life much worse. Thus, I can only conclude from my limited observations that that man did not "love" those boys (he may have lusted over them, etc, but not true love). Thus, I do not think that he is like me, nor most (if not all) people on this board.

It is this distinction that I wanted to make. I know, in general distinctions only lead to serparation and whatnot. But I think it is important for myself to know that I am not like that person. And I also wish that the media/society knew (and could see) the difference. That way, much of the unneeded paranioa running around adults working with children could be aleviated - that not all people who are attracted to children are dangerous to children.
