Thanks for bringing this up to our attention. It is both a relief that they are now safe, but it is an attrocity that it ever happened! Man, I feel sorry for both of those kids. Wow, what timing considering our recent talk in a way concerning this. And indeed, this is a case where the system can both do good and do bad. I can only imagine the type of questioning that those boys will have to go through! What a shame. But he'll definitely get time - keeping him safely away from other victims.

Really, it is people like that who give people like us a horrible rap! I know that most people here (myself included) have probably done things in their life that they've regretted. But (from what I know), nothing like what was just mentioned. This makes me raise the issue of "was that man really a pedophile"?

This question actually has too parts. First, as it was already shown, most child rapests aren't pedophiles but rather do such acts on compuslion (generally based on power and control) - so what does that leave to the pedophile population. Then second, can you call a person who rapes a child a pedophile - referring to its literal term as "a lover of children"? Rape means that it is against the victim's will, meaning that it was not consensual and thus not out of love. This is different where the sex is more consensual and not "rape". But skiping that and focusing on encounters such as this, is such a person really a pedophile?

Personally, I don't think so, if my definition of pedophile is used ("a lover of children"). I guess this opens up the doors onto debate as to what is true love, and can such a love be like the love of a parent (the kid doesn't want it, but it is still done out of love)?

I still say that no, such a person is not a lover of children based on what information I was given (that act of rape). But it would be interesting on what others have to say ...
