A really bad movie!

Ok, sometimes I do wind up renting a bad movie by mistake. This was one of those times. If you haven't seen this one, then I will be doing you a huge favor by writing this post.

I just LOVE Cole and Dylan Sprouse, and I try to watch everything they are in on t.v. or the movies. So I got really excited when I saw that the local rental place had the movie "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things". I knew those boys were in that movie, so I guess I just ignored the rating and the description on the back of the DVD. What a mistake.

The movie is about the life of a young boy who is repeatedly mistreated and abused by literally almost every adult he encounters, including and ESPECIALLY his own mother. It is very graphic and horribly violent. It begins when the boy is five and ends with him at age 9 or 10. At first I thought that maybe it would have some kind of redemptive ending. No way! This flick starts bad, gets worse, and stays worse right up to the bitter end. To be honest, I didn't make it past the scene in the first 30 minutes where his mother's boy friend beats him viciously with a belt for wetting the bed. I did a quick fast-forward to see if it was going to get any better and wound up looking at the ending credits wondering why I rented such a major piece of garbage.

Ok, I guess I can see the reason for making a movie like this. To expand public knowledge of child abuse and try to help the kids. I get it. But for someone like myself, this is definately NOT a movie to see. Especially when the 5 year old boy in the beginning of it looks so much like my YF looked at his age. I almost threw my DVD player across the room, man.

I give this stinker a HUGE "thumbs down" and a negative five stars!!! Do yourself a favor and refuse to rent it.

Chris
