Yes, it isn't ideal, but I can't agree that God WANTS us this way. I know some would disagree, but I don't feel that God wants us to have a sexual attraction to boys, even if we don't act on it. He may allow it. By that I mean He puts up with it, much like a parent might put up with things in a child's life that isn't really the best one would hope for in his/her life.
The problem with this view is that it ignores the omnipotence of God. With God all things are possible. Therein lies the difference between the parent who puts up with things beyond his control, and the God who chooses not to change things he could change in an instant. Let's take your example and create a more accurate comparison. Suppose a parent bears a child who is not the best one would hope for. For the sake of the illustration, let's say the child is born blind. Now, let us assume that the parent wishes the child would be more like his non-blind children and the blind child also wishes he could be like his seeing brothers and has expressed such to his parents many times. Suppose the parents have a pill in their posession that is 100% effective at curing blindness with 0% chance of side effects. Given this situation, there is no logical explenation for the parent's refusal to give their child the pill other than the fact they preffer that their child not be able to see for whatever reason. Only if the parents want their child to be blind does this situation make any sense. This is very much like the situation God is in. He is able to change you with 100% effectiveness and 0% chance of side effects in an instant with minimal effort, you want to be changed, but he chooses not to change you. The only logical explenation is that he WANTs you to be the way you are. I do not believe there is any logical explenation for God's refusal to change people's orientation other than to believe that he wants you to be the way you are. So even though we may not be sinning with these attractions, God would prefer us to be more like Jesus. Those of us who are not sexually active are already more like Jesus when it comes to sexuality than any heterosexual married person. ![]() |
