If by grooming we mean.... behaving so that a person will like us, trust us, confide in us, open up to us, share their life with us, respect us, feel happy to know us, love us... etc... then doesn't EVERYONE trying to build a solid friendship engage in grooming?

Parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts behave like this towards children all the time.... kids do it with each other.

The only difference between this behaviour and the sterotypical grooming behaviour of the "evil pedo" is that the EP is doing it to get the kid to trust him for sex.

Recently I was exposed to some child protection material that defined "evil pedo" grooming specifically as: encouraging the child to keep secrets, to go against his parents wishes, to accept inappropriate forms of affection and to do things for rewards. This was actually a breah of fresh air for me. The authorities ARE getting smarter I figured... as this would be a more accurate picture of sexual grooming I would think.

Refering back to Robert-I's labels of types of pedos... there are some who would actively pursuade boys to have sex... I suppose this type of pedo would "groom" a child sexually. As opposed to a pursuadable pedo who would let a child seduce him but wouldn't initiate anything himself.

Both these guys would "allow sexual contact" but one would actively pursue it and the other would wait to see if it happened. Is there a distiction there that could be examined a bit?

Blessings
Cat.
