Paranoia about paranoia?

Posted by TwoHundredPages on 2010-06-29 23:48:34, Tuesday

(I'm [age has been edited out], by the way)

The older of the two boys I mentioned earlier - who is 8 years old - has asked me "When can you come over my house?" several times now, to which I always reply "You'll have to ask your parents". Apparently he keeps forgetting to ask.

I've come to the conclusion that if we ever want to have a playdate, I'll have to make it happen. He stays at the Out Of School Hours care 3 days a week to wait for his parents to pick him up, and the OOSH don't seem to be willing for my volunteer work to extend to their extablishment [Edited].

The other two days he gets picked up straight after school, I suppose. I could confront his parents then, but I'm very scared that my efforts to spend time with my YF would be met with outright rejection. So, am I being paranoid about paranoia?

How do you guys manage to work your way around the parent problem? How do you go about building trust with the parents?
