I do think the sentiment of this question is important.

Having an adult partner I think is a very sure way to deter someone from going looking for other partners.... I suspect (but it's totally only and opinion... I have no evidience to support it) that having a committed relationship would be more effective in this regard than having casual sexual relationships with multiple partners would be. There's something about faithfulness and commitment that is very compelling in the exercise of self-control.

Being married has certainly spared me from countless temptations that I would have faced with much greater difficulty had I not been married. And in fact, this appears to be Paul's argument in 1 Corinthians 7... "to prevent sexual immorality... get married".

Maintaining a long term sexual relationship with someone outside of your primary attraction is very difficult.... sometimes extreemely difficult. But in the end and in the interests of Christian holiness... worth it I think.
