Don't volunteer it

Although it seems to have worked out well on this occasion, it seems clear to me that this was somewhat involuntary. I can tell you of a Christian BL who used to visit this board who volunteered the depth of his love to his 14yo YF who freaked out and told his parents what had been said. It ended his relationship with the boy, and the parents told the leadership of the church through which they'd met. Actually the church did OK about it, but it did restrict his freedom of action somewhat, but this was a few years ago when the level of paranoia was not so high; certainly some churches would feel they would have to involve the police or social services these days if such an event was reported to cover, themselves if anything did go wrong in the future.

Rationally there is little really little good reason to say anything; the dangers is that it may cause him to freak and reject you, or encourage him to make a serious pass at you, which is a big problem for the future of your friendship, even if you resist the temptation when it is presented. All for what - being slightly more honest with someone who isn't really emotionally mature enough to under what you are telling him (would you really have coped at that that age)?
