Just watched a little snippet of it on youtube, and there were little quotes from the director that were displayed on the video from time to time. One of them read, "Peter Grimes is not actually crazy; it is the mass hysteria of his village that creates this idea... The influence of mass hysteria can be one of the most destructive forces in all humanity."
