Where The Wild Things Are.

Is this a children's movie? I'm not sure. Niether was my friend the Pastor, who went to see it with me. You know, I've seen other movies by Spike Jones, and so I am not surprised that this one could be geared more towards an adult crowd. However, there were still many children (some young children) in the audience that evening and they certainly enjoyed themselves. I didn't see too much that would be disagreeable for a younger audience, although they might not understand all of the dialogue.

But how was the movie? I loved it! Max Records, who plays Max; the young boy who goes to the island and has many adventures with the wild creatures he finds there, does a wonderful job. I believe this will be one of the finest movies that Spike Jones will ever do. Certainly it is one of his finest works to date. The special effects are perfect and the story well told. Does it follow the book exactly? That I cannot say because, unfortunately I've never read the book. And I probably won't be able to read it for quite a while, now, because I'm sure it will be out of the library for quite a while. No matter, I believe this movie can stand on it's own merrit anyway. By all means go see it and I think you will be glad you did.
