I hardly ever go on facebook but the other day I had one of those 'friend requests' you sometimes get through my email from a boy that I knew for a little over a year way back in the 80's when I was living abroad. When I put facebook on he came on to chat and I was astonished at how much he remembered and how much he wanted to tell me and how much it had all meant to him at the time. He now has a wife and four kids.
The longer I live on earth the more I realise how amazing kids (young people) are this way: if there is something important missing in their lives: ie a man who cares - they will spot it from miles off and home in on it like pigeons. Even a brief contact can make the world of difference because kids remember things that they need to remember and it can change their lives in ways that even they could never really quantify.
All the more reason, of course, that they are not betrayed because then everything goes into reverse with a terrible vengeance.
